OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: TUESDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2021.

THEME: WE OWE GOD GRATITUDE.

MEMORISE:

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

1 Chronicles 16:34

READ: Luke 17:11-19.

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

MESSAGE:

There is one thing that irritates God which many don’t pay attention to and that is ingratitude. In my village- Ifewara, in the South-Western part of Nigeria, our people would say “Don’t follow-up on your benevolent act” os that it would not appear as if you are seeking gratitude or worship. God however, demands both from us and rightly so too, because we all owe everything we have to His benevolence. As a matter of fact, God follows up on His benevolent acts and that is why He told the children of Israel to bring one-tenth of His blessings upon their lives (Deuteronomy 14:22) and the first fruits from their farmlands and livelihood, to Him.

“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you….” Leviticus 23:10-11

The Psalmist’s knowledge of the dangers of ingratitude led him to say in Psalm 103:1-2:

“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

In the Bible reading today, the Lord Jesus asked “….Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?” (Luke 17:17). The Lord then perfected the healing of the grateful man, making him whole.

It is most unfortunate that many children of God are already so used to miraculous acts of God as to take them for granted. They are no longer moved by these acts, invariably leading to an ungrateful attitude. Newcomers to the church who know what they have suffered at the hands of the devil and his cohorts give thanks to God for their miracles, whereas some pastors don’t testify of how God healed them of headache because they don’t see it as a ‘big deal’. Such people have forgotten that the headache they consider as ordinary has claimed the lives of millions of other people.

My prayer is that you will never be ungrateful again, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT:

father, please forgive me for all actions or inactions that have amounted to being ungrateful to You. Please Lord, help me to be grateful to You at all times, in Jesus’ name.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: MONDAY 8TH NOVEMBER 2021.

THEME: THE BLAMELESS VESSEL.

MEMORISE:

Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.

Isaiah 52:11

READ: 1 Timothy 3:1-7

1This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

MESSAGE:

One thing a man or woman that God would use should bear in mind is that he or she must be blameless. This is the prerequisite for a child of God who want wants to serve God as a worker or minister, at any level. The Bible says:

“This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless…..”

1 Timothy 3:1-2

When a person volunteers to serve the Lord, it is dangerous if the fellow is not clean in and out because the holiness God could kill such a person. The Bible says that Isaiah admitted his sinful state and God purified and cleansed him of his iniquity so that he could qualify as a true prophet. After this, the angel of the Lord came and touched him with a live coal from heaven and he was purged of his iniquity (Isaiah 6:5-7). Here we see the mercy of God upon the vessel He decided to use for His glory. However, there is a lesson we must learn from this Scripture. The prophet admitted his sinful state and God came to his aid for cleansing. How often do we we seek the Lord for cleansing?

In addition, for a fellow to be used by God, the life of such a person must glorify the Lord. God must be honored in the life of such a fellow. The Lord will show off such a fellow among His holy angels, then ultimately prosper and protect him or her eternally.

“And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?” Job 1:8

Though Job suffered many trials, the later part of his life was much better than the former. Job 42:12 says “So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning:…..” job had exactly double of the possessions he had lost to the attack of the devil. God also gave him seven sons and three daughters, as before, but this time, his daughters were the most beautiful women in the land (Job 42:15). Job experienced this promotion because he remained blameless before God (Job 1:22).

Do you want divine promotion? Do you want to be used for the glory of God? Begin to walk blameless before Him (Genesis 17:1) from today and He will not only use you for His glory, He will also promote you beyond your expectations.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to live a life of complete obedience to Your word, n the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: ISAIAH 18-22

HYMN 18:  PASS ME NOT, O GENTLE SAVIOR.

1. Pass me not, O gentle Savior,

Hear my humble cry;

While on others Thou art calling,

Do not pass me by.

Refrain:

Savior, Savior,

Hear my humble cry,

While on others Thou art calling,

Do not pass me by.

2. Let me at Thy throne of mercy

Find a sweet relief;

Kneeling there in deep contrition,

Help my unbelief.

3. Trusting only in Thy merit,

Would I seek Thy face;

Heal my wounded, broken spirit,

Save me by Thy grace.

4. Thou the spring of all my comfort,

More than life to me,

Whom have I on earth beside Thee,

Whom in Heav’n but Thee.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SUNDAY 7TH NOVEMBER 2021.

THEME: YE SHALL DECREE A THING!

MEMORISE:

 For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Mark 11:23

READ: Job 22:23-30.

23 If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.

24 Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

25 Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

26 For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

27 Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.

28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

30 He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

MESSAGE:

There are many types of prayers. Today, we shall be discussing the prayer of decrees because there is a level you would get to in spiritual warfare at which prayers of supplication or intercession may not be adequate. Our Lord Jesus Christ in our memory verse today assured us that whatever we command shall obey us. Mark 11:24, He also said:

“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

A prayer of decree creates; it does not take “No” for an answer. More often, only those who walk intimately with God engage effectively in prayer of decrees. The Bible says:

“Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.” Isaiah 45:11

In Ezekiel chapter 37, Ezekiel prayed a prayer of decree and the dry bones lived again. I decree that every mountain threatening the fulness of joy in your life is removed today, in Jesus’ name. this is because it is written that whatever we say unto a mountain “Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea,” our words shall come to pass, according to our memory verse today.

Some years ago, a couple trusting God for the fruit of the womb came to us for prayers. When they disagreed about what sex the baby should be, we intervened by decreeing that they would have a set of twins- a boy and a girl. They keyed into the prayer of decree and had a set of twins- a boy and a girl. I decree that your expectations shall be fulfilled far beyond your imagination, in Jesus’ name.

For us to effectively engage in prayer of decrees however, we must abide in Christ and His words must abide in us (John 15:7). This means you must be born again and live a life of total obedience unto God. If you had been born again but fell into sin, now is the time to repent and return to God.

Our Bible reading of today summarizes this message excellently; if you are on the side of God, you will declare a thing and it shall come to pass.

PRAYER POINT:

My Father, I decree according to Your word: every mountain threatening my destiny is removed now, in Jesus’ name.

Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
