‎✓Father, please help all Your children who are yet to marry, to be spiritually discerned so they follow Your direction on who to marry that will be suitable and fit to partake in Your covenant for their lives, in Jesus' name.

‎✓Father, please help all our young men and women who are matured for marriage never to disregard the criterion of marrying from among believers; help them not to stray away from Your counsel, in Jesus' name.

‎✓Father, please help all Your children trusting You for marriage partners not to be carried away with the charisma or commitment to church activities of suitors and ladies aspiring for marriage. Help them never to be carried away by external things and miss the direction of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name.

‎✓Father, please help all our singles not to allow emotions, physical preferences or human calculations to determine their decisions but to allow the Holy Spirit to guide their choice of a marriage partner, in Jesus' name.

‎✓Father, please help me to be spiritually discerned to know where to live, who to partner with and where not to pitch my tent in all areas of my life, in Jesus' name.

‎✓Father, please help me not to be spiritually insensitive to Your guidance; never to make decisions based solely on my judgement and understanding, in Jesus' name.

1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

MESSAGE

Spiritual discernment is crucial for every Christian, especially when making critical life decisions such as choosing a marriage partner, where to live, and who to associate with. Some Christians have married evil people disguised as angels of light because they lacked spiritual discernment. They embraced Jezebels and Nabals - idolatrous and foolish people who can lead them astray and ruin their lives.

Believers need God's direction to know the right people to marry. For example, when Abraham wanted to choose a wife for Isaac, he gave his servant specific instructions about the type of woman who would be suitable for his son and fit to partake in the covenant God had made with him (Genesis 24:1-8). He told his servant to go to his country and kindred to take a wife for Isaac. This is the first criterion for a Christian's choice in marriage; he or she must marry a fellow Christian because our country as believers is heaven. Some believers have disregarded this criterion to their detriment.

Apart from a believer ensuring that whoever he or she wants to get married to is a Christian, it is also crucial to ask God to show him or her the right person among His numerous children. Some Christian ladies have been carried away by a suitor's charisma, so they didn't ask God if he was a suitable spouse for them or not. Likewise, some Christian men have allowed a lady's commitment in church to blind them to what God is saying about her character. When it comes to the issue of marriage, a believer cannot afford to be carried away by external things and miss the Holy Spirit's direction. If you are still single, I pray that you will allow the Lord, and not your emotions, physical preferences, or human calculations, to guide you in your choice of a marriage partner, in Jesus' name.

Where to live is another crucial decision that requires spiritual discernment. In Genesis 13:10-13, Lot didn't inquire from God before choosing to pitch his tent towards Sodom. He found himself in the midst of sinners and wicked people, and eventually, he lost his home when God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of the sins of their inhabitants. Only spiritually discerning people will know whether God wants them to relocate or not, and where to relocate to.

Beloved, don't make critical life decisions based solely on your judgment and understanding. Seek God's counsel and remain spiritually discerning to know what He wants you to do.

TOPIC: SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED, PART 2 

MEMORIZE:

"Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;" 

Psalm 13:3 (KJV)

BIBLE READING: JUDGES 16:19-21

"19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.

21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house."

MESSAGE:

There was once a young man who was the secretary of a cult group at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in South-West Nigeria. One day, he gave his life to Christ and decided to leave the cult. Immediately, the other cult members decided to kill him because he knew their secrets.

One night, after arriving in his hostel from the library, he was very tired, so he said a quick prayer and got on his bed to sleep. As he lay on his bed, the Holy Spirit nudged him to get up and pray. He got on his knees, said another short prayer, and tried to sleep again. However, he got another nudge to pray, and he just thought to himself, “Well, let me pray just as God wants.” He did so, and as he got up from his knees, he saw a huge demon with charms all over its body walk into his room, even though the door was locked.

The demon made its way towards him, and he immediately started rebuking it in Jesus’ name. Slowly, the demon retreated from the room.

When he told me about the incident, I asked him, “Are you sure you weren’t dreaming?” He replied, “I’d have thought I was dreaming too; however, because of how I shouted when rebuking the demon, my roommate moved on his bed, and as he did so, his leg touched the demon as it retreated. My roommate’s leg, which touched the demon, swelled to three times its normal size, and he spent a year treating it.” Being spiritually discerning can be the difference between life and death.

As we read in Balaam’s story yesterday, disobedience to God’s instructions can prevent a Christian from discerning spiritual things. Are there instructions the Lord has given you to follow? Don’t try to negotiate your way out of complete obedience to Him. Always obey God’s instructions, because it will make your heart more sensitive to hearing Him.

Toying with sin will make a believer become spiritually dull. Samson didn’t know when his hair was cut because sin had made him spiritually dull. He was fast asleep and didn’t know that he was in trouble until Delilah woke him up. When he awoke, he wanted to fight the Philistines as he had always done, but he was unaware that God had left him.

Beloved, flee disobedience and sin so that you will remain spiritually discerning. May you not become spiritually insensitive and sleep the sleep of death, in Jesus’ name.

TOPIC: SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED 1

MEMORISE

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. - (1 Corinthians 2:14)

22 And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the Lord stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

23 And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

MESSAGE

Today's memory verse tells us that the natural man cannot understand the things of God because they are spiritually discerned. This means that such a fellow cannot follow God's direction, as he or she cannot understand spiritual things and will even consider them foolish. Those who walk in the spirit, however, know how to discern spiritual things.

For instance, when it seems that several people are trying to get a Christian angry, it could be that the devil is seeking to open a window through which he can attack him or her. If the believer cannot spiritually discern the devil's plan, he or she might eventually give in to anger, thereby giving the devil access to carry out his attack. Likewise, if a Christian keeps encountering people in need, especially if they are fellow Christians, it could be that God wants the believer to help them so that He can open windows of blessings over his or her life. However, if the Christian cannot spiritually discern what is happening and ignores the people in need, he or she would miss out on God's blessing. Spiritual discernment is crucial in the journey of every Christian.

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. - (Proverbs 22:3)

In today's Bible reading, Balaam's donkey began to behave strangely when he was on his way to meet Balak despite God's initial instruction forbidding him from going (Numbers 22:12). Balaam was so spiritually insensitive that he didn't know the actions of the donkey were for his own good. When his donkey didn't move as he wanted it to and kept turning away from the path it was supposed to take, he hit it in an attempt to force it to obey him. Even when the donkey spoke, which was very strange, Balaam was too spiritually insensitive to sense the danger ahead until God opened his eyes. I pray that your spiritual senses will be sharpened enough to see any dangers that are ahead of you, and you will be prudent enough to hide yourself, in Jesus' name.

The lack of spiritual discernment has destroyed so many homes and ended so many lives prematurely. This is why spiritual discernment is a must-have for you in your walk with God, relationship with others, and dealings with the world. I pray that the Almighty God, in His mercy, will sharpen your discernment and help you see things as they really are, in Jesus' name.

‎Lord Jesus, I come to You with a deeply repentant heart, please, forgive me all my sins. I surrender my life to you, today, and, I accept You, as my personal Lord and Saviour. Please, come into my life and save my soul from eternal destruction in hell fire, in Jesus' name I pray.

‎PRAYER POINTS

‎✓Father, You are good and Your mercy is forever. I will sing of Your kindness, and with a joyful noise I will enter Your presence with thanksgiving.

‎

‎✓Father You are the Lord of lords, and a great King above all gods; in Your hands are the heavens and the earth, the seas and the dry lands are the works of Your hands.

‎

‎✓Father, Yours is the power and the glory, and victory belongs to You for You are exalted above all kingdoms, and Your reign is everlasting.

‎

‎✓Father, please manifest Your power over my life and let every works of the devil be swallowed up, in Jesus' name.

‎

‎✓Father, please let Your power prevail over every attempt of the enemy over my life and family, let them be put to shame and their evil plots be consumed by Your fire, in Jesus' name.

‎

‎✓Father, please help me never to fall to the deceits of the devil in looking for wealth through unholy means. Give me power to make lasting wealth that comes without sorrows and help me to trust in You forever, in Jesus' name.

‎

‎✓Father, because You are above all, please change the unchangeable in my life, and turn every impossible situation around in my life, in Jesus' name.

‎

‎✓Father, thank You for the grace to have You as my Father, I worship You for granting me access to all Your wisdom, riches, glory, power, grace and goodness freely, through Christ Jesus.

‎

‎✓Father, please help me to love You with everything in me, and to be totally devoted to praising You all the days of my life. Let nothing take Your place in my heart, in Jesus' name.

‎

‎✓Father, thank You for calling me Your own. Please give me a heart to loves to worship You at all times, in Jesus' name.

‎

‎✓Father, thank You for the life of Your son, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye.

‎

‎Let nothing take Your place and presence in his life, in Jesus' name. Bless his children (biological and spiritual). Help him to continue to produce sons and daughters to Your glory, in Jesus' name

‎✓Father, please bless Your son that You have been using to prepare these prayer points, beyond measure, and all those who have been broadcasting them, in Jesus' name.

‎✓Father, please let every challenge, hindrance and obstacles of getting these prayer points across to Your children, timely, and on daily basis be removed, in Jesus' name.
