 MESSAGE:

There is virtually nothing anyone can do with power. It is generally described as the ability to act or produce an effect; It can also mean the possession of control, influence, legal and or official authority over others. Power can be physical, mental, political, economic or spiritual. The power we are looking at today however, encompasses all spheres of human endeavors; It is the divine power available for children of God as we see in the memory verse for today.

 

Seeing that some degree of power is required in order to become a child of God, the question then is how can a person get this power? Beloved, this divine power is given by the Father Himself. If anyone wishes to become a child of God, he or she must first come to the Father in repentance. Many have perished in sin, sickness, poverty, addictions, and other forms of bondage, because they rejected the Gospel of the Father and so did not receive the power to become children of God. Romans 3:23 says:

 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

  

Thus, to become a child of God, you must be born again by the power of the Holy Spirit (John 3:3-5). The power to become a child of God is also hidden in the word of God (Ephesians 5:26). You must begin to act on the infallible word of God. It is only then that the power to become His child would come upon you mightily (James 1 :22-25).

There are so many rights and privileges of being God's child. If you are yet to be born again, you are missing a lot. When you become a child of God, you immediately become joint heirs with Jesus Christ in your glory. Thus, you become bold to confront your adversaries and they will flee from you. You receive all-round protection according to Isaiah 54:17. Your prayers will receive speedy answers from your Father in Heaven and finally, you will make it to Heaven when you close your eyes in death. In other words, you will escape the agony of the second as it is written in Revelation 21 :8. Praise the Lord!

 

 PRAYER POINT:                                        

Father, give me the power to become Your child today. I reject the devil and his deeds. I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior forever, In the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE READING: 

MATTHEW 10:40-42 (KJV)

40. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

41. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

42. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

MESSAGE

Another reason Elisha achieved uncommon greatness is that he was devoted to God’s servant, Elijah. The Bible says that Elisha poured water on Elijah’s hands, meaning that he served him. Beloved, there are lots of blessings reserved for those who serve God’s prophets. Matthew 10:41 says:

He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

When a man of God says “God bless you”, he is not just speaking idly; he is loading you with prophetic blessings that will give you tremendous testimonies. This is why you must be ready to do anything that will qualify you for such a divine blessing. One of my sons-in-the-Lord in the United States once shared his testimony thus: “The last time the General Overseer (G.O.) was here, my pastor told me I had been chosen to drive him throughout the duration of his visit.

I tried to explain that I was preparing for a major examination and might not be able to. However, the pastor insisted. In the end, I decided that since the G.O would only be spending one day, I could manage to combine the driving assignment with my preparation for the crucial examination. To my surprise, the G.O. spent a whole week. When he was finally leaving, he simply said to me “God bless you”. To the glory of God, despite the limited time I had for studying, I passed my examination with flying colors and I got a new job.

Now that the G.O. is here on another ministerial visit, I must be the one to drive him”. You will never miss your reward in Jesus’ name. Elisha was committed to the business of the kingdom; that was why the only thing he wanted from Elijah was a double portion of his spirit. He knew if he had what he would use for God’s work, he would get every other thing as promised in Matthew 6:33.

God is looking for believers who are committed to kingdom business. Will you be available? As you work for God and serve His anointed ministers, God will remember your labour of love and bless you tremendously in the mighty name of Jesus.

ACTION POINT

Think of what you can do to extend the frontiers of God’s Kingdom on earth, and begin to act decisively from today.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. 1 Corinthians 2:9

 

 

 

READ:  1 Kings 19:19-21

19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?

21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

 

MESSAGE:

Some people do not get the best from God because they hold on to what they think is good and miss out on something better. Elisha was rich; he was the son of one of the wealthiest farmers of his era. By today's valuation, his father could be said to have had twelve tractors working on his large farmland. Any farmer who has twelve tractors, without doubt, can be classified as a multimillionaire. Elisha was comfortable; however, God had something greater for him.          

Don't be among those who settle for the minimum level of prosperity while the maximum is begging for possession. God wants to take you to the highest level of wealth attainable. Elisha thought he was wealthy, but he did not know that a day would come when kings would serve him and call him " Father!" He thought he was going to die a rich farmer but God had a better plan for him. God has a glorious plan for you too. Presidents will serve you before you leave this world.

  

Elisha was wise. When he encountered God, he traded his level of achievement for a higher one by allowing God to have His way in his life. Elisha surrendered; he gave up sugar to receive honey. On the day the mantle of Elijah fell upon him, his life changed. God brought Elisha to the realm of ultimate greatness. He knew then that to receive ultimate greatness from God, he needed to surrender what he was holding on to. Beloved, you must offer God what appears to be your best at the moment, so that He can give you what is better than your best. Peter and the disciples did the same in Mark 10:28, and were eventually rewarded:

 "...Lo, we have left and have followed thee."

 

How will God give you the best He has in store for you? What wi11 God do to make you rich beyond your wildest imagination? I don't really know. However, one thing I know is that God can do anything just to bless you. Whatever He has promised He will definitely fulfil. If you are expecting a better tomorrow, be prepared to give up and surrender your best to God today. He will surely reciprocate by giving you something better than your best.

  

ACTION POINT:

Cry unto God today and ask Him to intervene in your situation.

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.         

Job 14:7

 

 

 

READ:  2 Kings 4:1-7

1Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.

6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

 

 

MESSAGE: 

When God steps into any situation, He turns things around. God can transform a debtor to someone who lends to nations, He can turn a destitute widow to the richest person in her community.

There is a beautiful story in the Scripture reading of today; it illustrates how God can change anyone's story provided the fellow is obedient. When you have an encounter with God, you only need to carry out the divine instructions given to you for your story to become a reference point of the wonders of God. The widow who had lost all hope, had an encounter with God through His prophet, Elisha and her story changed for good.

 

We can learn a few things from her. You would see that she desperately cried for help. Beloved, if any hopeless fellow will receive aid from the "Present Help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1), such a person must cry to God in desperation. God is eager to intervene in the affairs of those who will cry unto Him for help. Jeremiah 29 :13 says:

 "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

  

Anyone who makes the effort to seek God will surely find him. However, as long as you decide to manage without crying to God in prayer, you will remain in your present condition. When you are truly tired of your situation, like the woman in the Bible reading of today, you will cry out to God in desperation. The Bible did not say the widow had a chat with Elisha, rather it says that she cried unto Him because she was in desperate need of a miracle. She did not murmur before the prophet, neither did she grumble to attract his attention nor seek the sympathy of the people. Instead, she cried out for divine intervention, got Heaven's attention and her problem was permanently solved.

  

As you cry to God today, He will answer you and every hopeless situation in your life will turn around for good. Hope will rise for you and you will sing a new song of victory in the mighty name of Jesus.

  

ACTION POINT:

Cry unto God today and ask Him to intervene in your situation.
