PRAYER POINTS

3.Father, thank You for having highly exalted Jesus, You gave him a name above all, by which every knee bow, and all situations answer to the mention of the name, Jesus.

4.Father, I therefore take total control over every unpleasant situation in my life and family, in Jesus' name.

5.Father, please, let  negative medical reports be overturned to mighty testimonies in my life and family, in Jesus' name.

6.Father, in any difficult situations I may be in now, please, make a way of escape for me, in Jesus' name.

7.Father, please, let Your light break forth, through every works of darkness in my state and nation, in Jesus' name.

8.Father, please let me and my family end this year wonderfully, and far greater than we started off, in Jesus' name.

9.Father, please, save me and my household from evil and sorrow, in Jesus' name.

10.Father, Your name is a strong tower and a place of refuge in times of trouble; hide me and my family and keep us safe from sickness and diseases, in Jesus' name.

11.Father, please, bless your son, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye; honor his faith in You and grant him divine health and long life. 

Flood his heart with real joy as he grows older; bless his ministry, home, and family (biological and spiritual), and help them to remain a shining light forever, in Jesus' name.

TOPIC: THE NAME OF JESUS

MEMORISE:

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” - (Romans 10:13)

READ: PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11 (KJV)

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, we are made to understand that at the name of Jesus, all knees should bow. This means that you can take total control of any situation by using the name of Jesus. In (1 Samuel 17:42-51), David said to Goliath, “You have come with all these weapons, but I come against you in the name of the Lord of Host.” By the time the battle was over, Goliath had lost his head.

There is so much power in the name of Jesus. If you ask for anything in His name, you will see it happen because John 14:14 says:

If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Several years ago, I travelled from Ibadan, a city in Western Nigeria, to Ilorin, another city in the same region. On the way, there was a narrow bridge that could only take one vehicle at a time. As we approached the bridge, there was a sign that read, ‘narrow bridge ahead’, to warn drivers to reduce the speed of their vehicles because if another vehicle was coming from the other side of the bridge, they would have to wait for it to drive by before getting on the bridge. We were already on the bridge when we saw a truck coming from the other side of the bridge at top speed. We didn’t know if the driver didn’t see us or if he just couldn’t stop; a head-on collision seemed unavoidable. There was no time to pray, but there was just enough time to shout the name of Jesus. My driver and I shouted the name, “JESUS.” We somehow passed the truck in the middle of the bridge, and when we got off the bridge, my driver was trembling so vigorously that he had to park the car immediately. In the back of the car where I was seated, I was trembling even more than he was. By the time he composed himself, he asked, “Daddy, what just happened?” I replied, “God expanded the bridge.” For the rest of the journey, he just kept repeating, “Wonderful.”

Beloved, at the mention of the name of Jesus, wonderful things happen. Therefore, when next you find yourself in a situation that needs to be brought under control, just shout the name of Jesus, and every force will submit to His authority.

THEME:  THE JOY OF THE LORD

MEMORISE: 

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.   Isaiah 55:12

READ:   John 15:9-11

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

MESSAGE

Many people mistake happiness for joy. Happiness is based on happenings, while joy is not dependent on any happenings at all. The only way to access real joy is through Jesus Christ. This is why, after a person becomes born again, he or she begins to feel so joyful, even though nothing special seems to be happening to him or her on the outside.

Many years ago, a professor, who had just given his life to Christ, came to me and said, "Can I ask you a question, sir?" I braced myself because I thought to myself, "lf a professor wants to ask a question, it must be a tough one." He then said, "1 hope there is no problem with being so joyful. I don't know why, but recently, I have been so joyful, and I am concerned." I told him that what he was experiencing was very normal; everyone who connects with God experiences real joy. If you are yet to experience the kind of joy that goes beyond your circumstances, give your life to Christ today and live holy. You will begin to experience joy that you will find difficult to explain.

Some people have been born again for a long time but have lost their joy. They lost their joy, not because they had less money or less of whatever they used to have, but because they started disobeying Jesus.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in Father's my love; even as I have kept my commandments and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. John 15:10-11

In the Scripture above, Jesus said that if you keep His commandments and abide in His love, His joy will remain in you, and your joy will be full. If you really want that joy that chases depression and sorrow away forever, you need to obey Jesus and abide in His love. 1 John 5:3 says that God's commandments are not grievous.

Beloved, the secret to real joy is in obeying the commandments of Jesus Christ. Commit to always obey Him, and as you begin to live for Him, His joy will flood your heart. He loves you, and He wants to give you unexplainable joy.

KEY POINT

It is only in Jesus Christ that you can experience true joy.

 OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 11TH 2024

THEME: DIVINE STRENGTH

MEMORISE: The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.     Psalm 29:11

READ:  Habakkuk 3:17-19

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

MESSAGE

You cannot always determine a person's strength from his or her physical appearance. For instance, having big muscles does not necessarily reflect how strong a person is. If a person's strength is based on physical appearance alone then David would not have defeated Goliath (1 Samuel 17;42- 54).

Ecclesiastes 7:19 says that a wise man is stronger than ten mighty men. In verse 12 of that same chapter, the Bible says:

"For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it" This means that wisdom, money, or both, provides strength and security.

Everyone has something or someone that they depend on as their strength. However, the greatest of strengths comes from above. This is why David said in Psalm 121:1-2:

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

David had a source of strength that helped him overcome battles, live in prosperity, and leave a good legacy. In the scripture above, he said that his help came from the Lord. In other words, God was his strength. The strength that comes from the Lord is absolutely reliable because, not only is it supreme, it is always constant. That strength does not ever fade; it is everlasting. Hebrews 13:8 says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. If the Lord is your strength, your strength will be constant, even in old age. Deuteronomy 34:7 says that at 120 years old, Moses was still very strong; His eyes were not dim and his natural strength had not diminished.

The strength that comes from the Lord is comprehensive. Philippians 4:13 says:

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

'All things' in the above Scripture includes working miracles and laying hands on the sick for their recovery. Mark 16:17-18 says:

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they

shall recover.

Beloved, do not be satisfied with your natural strength alone because it is very limited. Like David, look up to God for strength to overcome all of life's challenges and to do the impossible. Our God is faithful, and He can be relied on.

5.Father, ‭please, let all who rage against me be put to shame and disgrace; let those who oppose Your will in my life be as nothing and perish, in Jesus' name.

6.Father, please, arise and step into any health situation that seems impossible for the doctors, in my life and family, in Jesus' name.

7.Father, please, over every impossible situation in my life, family and my local parish where I worship You, show up for us, in Jesus' name

8.Father, because You can never fail, just as You showed up during the famine in the land of Samaria and You turned lack to abundance, please, show up for us in my state and nation, and turn again our captivity, in Jesus' name.

9.Father, please, help me never to sin against You again so You can hear and answer me whenever I call You, in Jesus' name.

10.Father, please, in every area of my life and family, help us with Your unfailing hand to fulfill that great destiny You have designed for us, in Jesus' name.
