 OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: THURSDAY, MARCH 13TH 2025

TOPIC: FROM 'NO' TO 'YES'

MEMORISE:

“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.” - (Daniel 2:21)

READ: MATTHEW 15:21-28 (KJV)

21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

25 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

26 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

27 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

MESSAGE:

God never changes, but He can change things; this is why I call Him the Unchangeable Changer. He can change a 'No' to a 'Yes'. In today's Bible reading, a woman came to Jesus, asking Him to heal her daughter. Jesus initially refused to answer her, then later on, told her 'no'. She, however, persisted, and He eventually turned His 'No' into a 'Yes'.

During a church programme, God's word came that someone who was applying for a US visa had just received it. A young lady, who had an interview at the US embassy the following Monday, was so excited because she believed the prophecy was for her. Her visa application was, however, declined. Surprised, she told the visa officer, "But my daddy said the visa has been granted." The officer looked at her and said, "Who is your daddy?" She replied, "My daddy is Pastor Adeboye." The officer laughed, "I thought you were going to say the president or governor, but a pastor? Please leave." As she turned to leave, the visa officer said, "Wait. Because you made me laugh, I'll give you the visa." It wasn't laughter that turned the situation around; it was because there is a God who can change a 'No' to a 'Yes'.

Sometimes, God changes the 'No' of His children's enemies to a 'Yes'. Pharaoh kept saying 'No' to Moses' demands to let God's people go, but God arose in His mighty power to change that 'No' to a 'Yes'. In one night, He dealt with all the firstborns in Egypt because Pharaoh refused to allow His firstborn, Israel, to serve Him (Exodus 4:22-23). I pray that every 'No' from a boss or someone in authority who has prevented you from making progress in life will be turned into a 'Yes' now, in Jesus' name.

Have faith in God and keep trusting Him. Like the woman who persistently asked Jesus for healing for her daughter and got it eventually, your persistent faith will open doors that have remained shut against you. Moses kept going to Pharaoh until God forced him to change his 'No' into a 'Yes'.

Beloved, as you keep trusting in God, I decree that every door that has remained shut and has prevented you from fulfilling your destiny will be opened now. Every 'No' that is not in line with God's will is turning into a 'Yes' for you, in Jesus' name.

 KEY POINT:

Persistent faith in God will turn a 'No' into a 'Yes'.

HYMN: 30 - WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

1 When we walk with the Lord

in the light of his word,

what a glory he sheds on our way!

While we do his good will,

he abides with us still,

and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey, for there's no other way

to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,

not a sorrow we share,

but our toil he doth richly repay;

not a grief or a loss,

not a frown or a cross,

but is blest if we trust and obey.

3 But we never can prove

the delights of his love

until all on the altar we lay;

for the favor he shows,

for the joy he bestows,

are for them who will trust and obey.

4 Then in fellowship sweet

we will sit at his feet,

or we'll walk by his side in the way;

what he says we will do,

where he sends we will go;

never fear, only trust and obey.

TOPIC: JESUS DELIVERS

MEMORIZE:

And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

2 Samuel 22:2

READ: Mark 1:23-28

23  And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

27And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

MESSAGE:

In Exodus 14:13-30, Pharaoh's army pursued the Israelites as they camped before the Red Sea. The Israelites knew that unless something happened, they would either all be dead or be driven back into bondage. Moses, their leader, cried to God, and He delivered them with His mighty hand. In Mark 5:1-15, the man who was possessed by a legion of demons was set free with just one word from the Great Deliverer.

A woman once had a strange problem; anytime an electric appliance was switched on around her, instead of the appliance working, the electric current would flow through her. For example, if a fan was turned on, instead of the fan rotating, the woman would start rotating. If a fridge was switched on, instead of the things in it to get cold, the woman would start getting cold, and if an electric iron was switched on, she would start getting hot. Consequently, they dared not use any electrical appliance in her house and as such, the house was in darkness. When I sent for her, I was told that she couldn't travel in a vehicle because one day, people tried to take her to the hospital in a pick-up van, and as the driver switched on the engine, the current flowed from the engine to the woman, picked her up, and threw her out of the vehicle. Since she couldn't travel in a vehicle, I had to go to her house, and I told her that all she needed was to give her life to Jesus because He would deliver he from the power of darkness. She gave her life to Jesus, we prayed a simple prayer, and she was delivered immediately.

Jesus died and rose again to save man from satan's grip (1 John 3:8). It doesn't matter if many forces of darkness are troubling you; if you call on Him, He will set you free. The man with the unclean spirit in the synagogue had one demon (Mark 1:23-26), Mary Magdalene had seven (Mark 16:9), and the madman of Gadara had a legion (Mark 5:1-15), and Jesus delivered all of them.

I declare your deliverance from the forces of darkness that might be tormenting you or anything that concerns you, in Jesus' name. Jesus has paid the price for your deliverance; begin to walk in it.

PRAYER POINT:

I walk in total deliverance in every area of my life, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 19: ROCK OF AGES CLEFT FOR ME

1.  Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

Let me hide myself in Thee;

Let the water and the blood,

From Thy riven side which flowed,

Be of sin the double cure,

Save me from its guilt and power.

2.  Not the labor of my hands

Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;

Could my zeal no respite know,

Could my tears forever flow,

All could never sin erase,

Thou must save, and save by grace.

3.  Nothing in my hands I bring,

Simply to Thy cross I cling;

Naked, come to Thee for dress,

Helpless, look to Thee for grace:

Foul, I to the fountain fly,

Wash me, Savior, or I die.

4.  While I draw this fleeting breath,

When mine eyes shall close in death,

When I soar to worlds unknown,

See Thee on Thy judgment throne,

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

Let me hide myself in Thee.

TOPIC: JESUS CARES

MEMORISE:

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” - (1 Peter 5:7)

READ: 1 KINGS 17:1-16 (KJV)

1  And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

2 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

5 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

MESSAGE:

God cares deeply for all His children. In (2 Kings 4:1-7), we read about the widow of one of the sons of the prophets whose husband died and left her with a load of debt. When the creditor came and wanted to take her sons into bondage if she didn't pay, she cried to Elisha, who told her to borrow many vessels and pour from the little bottle of oil that she had at home into them. The Great Provider stepped in, and she was able to pay off her debt and live off the proceeds of the oil she sold for the rest of her life. In John 6:5-13, Jesus fed 5,000 men, not counting women and children, with a boy's lunch. To show that He truly cared, He multiplied the lunch until everybody was fed and there were twelve baskets of leftovers. These and many more stories show that Jesus truly cares.

Jesus also cares about us, not just our needs. He knows how fragile our human bodies are, and He wants us to be in good shape to do what He has called us to do. Years ago, there was a day I attended to people from 8:00am until 6:00pm when I managed to eat a little before attending our Bible study service. When I returned to my office, people were already waiting to see me. I kept praying for people until 10:30pm, and I was told there were ten more people waiting. By that time, my body was aching, and I was very tired. I asked God for what to do, and He said, "You don't need to stand to pray for them. Sit down, touch their head, and let them go. They will receive their miracle." I was surprised, and I said, "God, you mean I can talk to You, the Almighty, sitting down?" He replied that He has walked on the earth as a human, and He knows what it means to be tired.

Jesus knows our weak frame and cares deeply about us (Psalm 103:14). He is our High Priest who is touched with the feelings of our infirmities because He faced the same issues we now face (Hebrews 4:15). In today's Bible reading, we see how God cared for His prophet throughout the famine; he wasn't stranded at any point.

Beloved, put all your trust in God. He truly cares for you, and He will never leave you stranded.

 PRAYER POINT:

Thank You, Jesus, for Your loving care.

HYMNAL: 5 - BLESSED ASSURANCE

1 Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Refrain:

This is my story, this is my song,

praising my Savior all the day long.

This is my story, this is my song,

praising my Savior all the day long.

2 Perfect communion, perfect delight,

visions of rapture now burst on my sight.

Angels descending bring from above

echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

3 Perfect submission, all is at rest.

I in my Savior am happy and bless’d,

watching and waiting, looking above,

filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

DATE:  MONDAY MARCH 10TH 2025

THEME:  THE GREAT INVITATION

MEMORIZE:

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Isaiah 55:1

READ:  John 7:37-39

37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

MESSAGE

Jesus gave what many call "The Great Invitation' to everyone (Matthew 11:28-30). He promised to give rest to everyone who comes to Him, and that includes you.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:31 that you should never worry. He wants you to cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). He owns you, so He will take care of you. The question now is, does Jesus really own you? Does He own the thoughts of your heart, the direction and focus of your eyes, and your resources? If He truly owns you, then you have nothing to worry about. However, if there are parts of your life that you haven't surrendered totally to Him, then there's cause for worry.

My Father in the Lord taught me that it is what your father has that he will take care of you with. If God is your Father and owner, then He will take care of you with pleasures forevermore because they are abundant at His right hand (Psalm 16:11). However, if the devil owns you and you do his will, he will take care of you with lies and torment because that is his specialty. When the devil owns a fellow, that fellow will always be I need, because true satisfaction can only be found in God. The devil has nothing good to offer his own. While he has slaves, God has sons, and as a son of the Most High, all things are yours (1 Corinthians 3:21). God is extending a great invitation to you today, just like the one Jesus extended to the crowd on the great day of the feast in today's Bible reading. He is calling you to come and drink and to come and buy wine without money and without price. He is calling you to a life of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17).

I call heaven and earth to record this day...that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:    Deuteronomy 30:19

The ball is in your court. Do not live in anxiety, fear, and confusion; accept the great invitation to surrender completely to God so you can enjoy all the goodies He has for His children. When you choose life, you make the best choice, not only for yourself but also for generations after you. Beloved, accept God's great invitation -choose life.

REFLECTION

Are you choosing life with your thoughts, words, actions, and decisions?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  Joshua 18-20

HYMN 27: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,

all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,

O what needless pain we bear,

all because we do not carry

everything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged;

take it to the Lord in prayer!

Can we find a friend so faithful

who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness;

take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,

cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge--

take it to the Lord in prayer!

Do your friends despise, forsake you?

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

In his arms he'll take and shield you;

you will find a solace there.
