6.Father, please, preserve me by Your right hand of righteousness, till the end, without spot, wrinkle or blemish, in Jesus' name.

7.Father, I plead the blood of Jesus over my spirit, soul and body; let the blood of Jesus cleanse me from all unrighteousness, in Jesus' name.

8.Father, please, give me the grace to run away from every appearance of evil, and never to compromise Your standards, for the filthy lucre of this world, in Jesus' name.

9.Father, please, give me the grace to see You face to face, in the hereafter, in Jesus' name

10.Father, bless your son, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye;  and, bless his ministry, home and family, forever; and grant all his heart's desires, in Jesus' name.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

MESSAGE 

One day, one glorious day, I will see God face to face. The word of God confirms this to me (1 John 3:2)

I don’t know about you, but I’m eagerly looking forward to that day. According to 1 Timothy 6:16, this God that we are looking forward to seeing dwells in light that no ordinary man can approach. The glory around Him is so great that it is impossible for any man to come close to Him, yet I want to see Him. How will that be possible? This is why the bible says in Ephesians 5:27 that the one who will be the bride of Jesus must be without spot, wrinkle or blemish. Believe me honestly, if you have been thinking you will make it to heaven with those seemingly little occasional sins you permit in your life, you have been deceiving yourself. There will surprises on that day. Anyone that has just one spot on that day will not be allowed into heaven on that day. This is why the bible says in 1 John 1:7 that the blood of Jesus cleanses from ALL sins. Not 99% of sins, but ALL sins.

In 1 Peter 1:15, we see the standard of holiness that God expects from us:

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conservation;

We are to be holy as He is holy. In other words, the standard of your holiness is not to be that of your Pastor or General Overseer because they may think that some things are tolerable. Your standard of holiness must be as God is holy. In Matthew 5:48, Jesus Christ Himself said you must be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect. You are to be so holy that in 1 Thessalonians 5:22, the bible says that you must avoid everything that just appears evil. Not just what is actually evil, but everything that appears evil must be avoided. God is very serious about you living holy, he doesn’t take it lightly at all. You see, if you are to approach his great glory, you cannot do so with any iota of sin in your life. Ephesians 5:3-4 says you cannot even partake in unholy jokes, so if you find some people jesting and it include some carnality and impurity, you are not to partake in such jests. Do you really want to see God on that day? If you do, then you must live completely holy.    

PRAYER POINT

Father, give me the grace to be holy as You are holy, in Jesus' name.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: FRIDAY JULY 22ND, 2022.

THEME: JUDGING GOD?

MEMORISE:  

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? 

Isaiah 45:9

READ: Luke 18:9 -14

9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

MESSAGE

Wouldn’t it be a funny scene if someone were to have a case in court and then during the court proceedings, the accused turns to the judge and says, “You are the representative of the government. It is because the government did not take care of me that I did what I did, so you are the guilty one”. That was what happened in Genesis 3:8-12 when God asked Adam why he was hiding from Him.

In Matthew 25:14-30, we read the story of a master who gave three of his servant talents to trade with while he was away on a journey. Two traded their talents while the last servant who was given one talent didn’t. when the master returned and asked for a report, the last one came with judgment for his master. He said, you are the guilty one sir. First you give everybody more talent than you gave me. Secondly, I know you to be wicked man who always reaps where he doesn’t sow, and so I hide your talent”. Jesus told this story to point out to us that many of us are judging our Master – the Most High God. We tell Him, “The way I’m behaving is because of You. You are guilty one, You are the one who made me the way I am”. The talent was collected from the judgmental servant and he was thrown out of the presence of the Master into outer darkness, sorrow and pain. Next time you are tempted to judge God, be careful because the result is not likely to be pleasant.

When you go to God in prayer, don’t go telling Him that, in spite of how good you are, He refused to answer your prayers, ask Him for mercy because when you consider everything, you will realize how many things you need to improve on and how you don’t even deserve the things that God has already given you.

A woman came to me complaining bitterly, questioning why God had refused to bless her despite paying her tithes regularly, giving offerings and always making herself available to work for God. She had forgotten that she had told me earlier that she was then in her third marriage. I told her that what she needed from God was mercy. When I go to God I just say, “Lord, please have mercy on me”.

READ: Daniel 4:27 -37

27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

28 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

MESSAGE

One day, I was on a prayer walk when I got into a conversation with God. You see, if you were to ask a primary school pupil what the origin of a building is, he would say it is in the architect’s mind. A secondary student would say it is in the owner’s mind. Someone who has a bit of deeper knowledge would tell you that the origin of the building started when the owner of the building was born. If you were to consider it more deeply, you would see that if the parents of the owner of the building had never met each other to conceive him or her, the building would never have been built. Then again, if the parents were not born, they would never have met each other and the building would never have been built. By the time you go on and on, you would discover that everything we see in this world originated from God Himself. Every single thing.

Now, look at all the things you have. Where do they originate from? From you or from God? Many times, people say, “I worked hard to achieve the things I have. I used my brain well and money came in”. Who owns that brain of yours? There was a professor who always sat in front of my grammar school when I was a student there. If you want to hear real history, all you had to do was just buy him a drink and he will tell you all that you needed to know about the history of any part of the world you asked of, yet he could not remember his own name. It is only by the mercy of God that your brain is still working. It is only by His mercy that you are not homeless today. It doesn’t matter what you achieved, it all came from God and if you decide to raise your shoulders too high, He can withdraw it all, as in the case of Nebuchadnezzar in our bible reading today. He thought that all that he had was achieved by his own wisdom, so God decided to teach him a lesson. God just shifted something tiny in his brain and before anyone knew it, the king was out in the field eating grass for seven years. The moment God had mercy on him and restored his senses, he ceased from praising himself and started praising God, saying “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase” (Daniel 4:37).

PRAYER POINT

Father, I just want to praise you for all that you have given me. I recognize that it is not by my power that I have whatever I have, it is by your mercy. Thank you Lord, for showing me mercy.

6.Father, fill me to the brim with Your Holy Spirit  and let all the activities of the flesh be completely subdued in my life, in Jesus' name.

7.Father, wherever I need to do restitution and return to the rightful owner(s), what I have taken by falsehood, please, give me the grace, the power, and the wisdom to do it, in Jesus' name.

8.Father, please, don't let me ever use the mouth I have used to worship You, to worship an idol; and don't let me use the knees I have used to bow before You, to bow before an idol, in Jesus' name.

9.Father, empower me by Your grace to live a transparently holy life, and to do Your perfect will at all times, in Jesus' name.
