Open Heavens Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

 OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE:   TUESDAY 6TH APRIL 2021.

THEME:  STEADFASTNESS.

MEMORISE:

And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:                                                                                                                                                              Revelation 2:26

READ:  1 Corinthians 15:50-58

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

MESSAGE:

“Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem…….”                                                                                                                    Revelation 3:12

To be a perfect Christian, you must be steadfast, your faith must be built on Jesus, and no one else. This is because Hebrews 12:2 says He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. What you know about Jesus will help you to be more steadfast. Paul understood the excellency of the knowledge of Jesus and thus was able to sacrifice all to win Christ (Philippians 3:7-7). What do you know about Jesus?

You must know Jesus as the one and only Savior. There is no alternative to   the redemption that He bought for us by His blood, when He died on the cross. You must also know that He resurrected never to die again, and that He is alive today. You must be very sure of this. You must know that Jesus is the Redeemer of both the body and the soul, and by His stripes we were healed (1 Peter 2:24). I have very many testimonies concerning this. My family was always falling ill despite taking medication. However, as soon as I called on Jesus for healing, illness was completely removed from my home.

You must also know Jesus Christ as the Great Provider because 2 Corinthians 8:9 says though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor. This should be enough motivation for you never to compromise your faith because of riches. It is God who gives us the power to I get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). It is unfortunate that some Christians have made a shipwreck of their faith in search ofso-called greener pastures.

You would remain steadfast if you know Jesus is capable of doing anything for you as the Present Help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Galatians 5:1 says:

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

May the Lord uphold you to the end in Jesus' name.

ACTION POINT:

Make sure you grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and remain steadfast in Him until you see Him in glory.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 23-25.

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 4:  CONQUEROR AND OVERCOMERS NOW ARE WE.

1. Conquerors and overcomers now are we,

Thro’ the precious blood of Christ we've victory,

If the Lord be for us, we can never fail;

Nothing 'gainst his mighty pow'r can e'er prevail.

Refrain:

Conquerors are we, thro’ the blood, thro’ the blood;

God will give us victory, thro’ the blood, thro’ the blood,

Thro’ the Lamb for sinners slain,

Yet who lives and reigns again,

More than conquerors are we,

More than conquerors are we.

2. In the name of Israel's God we'll onward press,

Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;

Not to us, but unto him the praise shall be,

For salvation and for blood-bought victory.

3. Unto him that overcometh shall be giv’n

Here to eat of hidden manna sent from heav'n;

Over yonder he the victor's palm shall bear,

And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear.

DATE:   MONDAY 5TH APRIL 2021.

THEME:  GOD DEFENDS HIS ELECT.

MEMORISE:

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?                                                                                                                                       Luke 18:7

READ:  Colossians 3:12-17

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

MESSAGE:

An elect is a chosen or preferred person. In terms of Christianity, an elect is someone who God, by His grace, has chosen to be qualified as righteous before Him. The Bible says in Romans 8: 33- 34 :

“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”

God watches over His elect. He is not ashamed of them even among His holy angels because they are doing Him proud in this perverse generation and according to the Scripture:

“But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”                                                                          Hebrews 11:16

In light of the above Scripture, therefore, the elect of God have both a moral and spiritual obligation to live in accordance with the commandments of God.

The elect should be mindful more about eternity than the temporal things of this life. At times they suffer trials of poverty because they refused to sell their conscience, suffering bonds, imprisonment and in extreme cases, martyrdom.  This made Jesus Christ assure His audience in Luke 18:7 as we have it in our memory verse of today that God will always take care of His own elect. This is one of the numerous rewards of being an elect of God. In this verse, Jesus Christ is reassuring the elect of God who have turned   their backs on all forms of godlessness and wickedness of sin. The Almighty God will always be there for all the elect, provided they cry to Him in the day of trouble, because He said:

“call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”                                                                                                                                                                        Psalms 50:15

Beloved, are you an elect of God? If not, it takes just the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal   Lord and savior to be one. Repent of your sins and begin to live your life as approved of Jesus Christ in the gospels.  I pray that the benefits of the elect shall be your portion in Jesus' name.

ACTION POINT:

Act upon John 3:3-5 and pray that God should make you one of His elect.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 21-22.

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 12:  IN CHRIST ALONE.

In Christ alone my hope is found,

He is my light, my strength, my song

This Cornerstone, this solid Ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease

My Comforter, my All in All

Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,

Fullness of God in helpless babe.

This gift of love and righteousness,

Scorned by the ones He came to save

Till on that cross as Jesus died,

The wrath of God was satisfied

For every sin on Him was laid

Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,

Light of the world by darkness slain:

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory

Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,

For I am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death,

This is the power of Christ in me

From life's first cry to final breath,

Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man,

Can ever pluck me from His hand

Till He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

DATE:   SUNDAY 4TH APRIL 2021.

THEME:  THE EFFICACY OF THE ANOINTING.

MEMORISE:

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing  all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.               Acts 10:38

READ:  John 9:1-7

1And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

MESSAGE:

There is power in the anointing, it makes the carriers do what is ordinarily, humanly impossible. From the memory verse of today, you would see that Jesus was only able to achieve all He did because of the anointing. No wonder one of His divine title is Christ- the Anointed.  Jesus performed miracles through the

anointing. For example, in John 9, He produced a brand-new eye for a young man who had been blind from birth. The good thing is that He wants us-believers, to do greater works than He (John 14:12).

That is why He promised to send the Holy Ghost- the medium of anointing, to us as we see in Acts 1:8:

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

As believers, we can do all things through the anointing, provided we are willing to surrender to the Lordship of the Baptizer in the Holy Ghost. As you would see from the Bible reading for today, the anointing can destroy all forms of barriers to miracles, including the barrier of sin. When, in John 9:2, the disciples asked Jesus whether it was the man He healed or his parents who had sinned, He said neither of them did! This is surprising because according to Romans3:23, all have sinned, and this is an eternal truth. What happened with the blind man, however, was that anointing had destroyed the barrier of sin that would have denied him his miracle. This is what the anointing can do.

If we would do greater works, we must seek anointing through the work of Jesus' atonement and press on to holy living. When we fail in our consecration to the Lord and also lack anointing, we begin to find excuses as to why miracles are not happening. While it is true that sometimes the people, we are praying for may not have faith and may not be living right, we cannot deny that Jesus healed many people who lacked faith. He did this by the power of the anointing. Beloved, whether it is you than wants a miracle or you want it for someone else, the key factor is anointing. Receive the anointing as you believe in Jesus' Name.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please endow me with the anointing and use me as an extension of Your hand to heal the sick and raise the dead in the name of Jesus.

HYMN 24:  TAKE MY LIFE, AND LET IT BE.

Take my life and let it be

Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.

*Take my moments and my days,

Let them flow in endless praise.

Take my hands and let them move

At the impulse of Thy love.

Take my feet and let them be

Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice and let me sing,

Always, only for my King.

Take my lips and let them be

Filled with messages from Thee.

Take my silver and my gold,

Not a mite would I withhold.

Take my intellect and use

Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will and make it Thine,

It shall be no longer mine.

Take my heart, it is Thine own,

It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour

At Thy feet its treasure store.

Take myself and I will be

Ever, only, all for Thee.

THEME:  THE ONE AND ONLY SAVIOUR!

MEMORISE:

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.   Acts 4:12

READ:  Acts 2:22-24

22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

MESSAGE:

And she shall bring forth a son, and  thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.                                                                                                                          Matthew 1 :21

The fact that Jesus is our Savior is the major difference between Christianity and other religions of the world today. Why is Jesus Christ the one and only Savior? You will find the answer to this in John 14:6 where Jesus testifies of Himself thus:

“……I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

The validity of this claim cannot be disputed. According to l John 2:2, God Himself raised Jesus as "....the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." Since sin entered the world" through Adam and Eve, the human race inherited it. Unfortunately for unbelievers, sin will continue to rule over them until they come to Jesus whose blood offers remission of sins (Matthew 26:28).

In Acts 2:22-24, Peter plainly declared the mission, the passion and perfect atonement Jesus accomplished for mankind.   Acts   4:12   corroborates   this   perfect redemption which Jesus brought to us. It says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Going by the weight of Jesus' action, you would see why the author of Hebrews asked the fundamental question in Hebrews 2:3 "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation ... ?"

Jesus carried out His earthly ministry with great grace, and in a way that distinguishes Him from

the religious leaders we see all over the world today (Luke 4:18-19), so much so that the Pharisees admitted that He taught as Someone "with authority" (Mark 1:22). Beloved, Jesus is the only way to God the Father (John 14:6) and He is also the only way to obtain true deliverance from demonic torment. He went about doing good (Acts 1 0: 38); He can do you good today, if only you· would accept Him as your Lord and Savior and continue to live righteously. I sincerely plead with you to be wise.

God bless you.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, I accept Your offer of salvation through Jesus, my Lord today. Receive, forgive, and revive me as I rededicate my life to You today, in the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 16-18.

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 28:  WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS.

1. What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged— Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful, Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; Take it to the Lord in prayer.

3. Are we weak and heavy-laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge— Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there.

4. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear; May we ever, Lord, be bringing All to Thee in earnest prayer. Soon in glory bright, unclouded, There will be no need for prayer— Rapture, praise, and endless worship Will be our sweet portion there.
