TOPIC: SHARE THE GOOD NEWS 1

MEMORISE:

BIBLE READING: MARK 5:1-20 (KJV)

MESSAGE:

When the Almighty God set the madman of Gadara free in today's Bible reading, He told him to tell other people about what God had done for him. As a result, the man began to go around, telling others about what Jesus Christ had done for him. One of the things God told me at one time was that I should tell His people that the more they testify, the more miracles they would get from Him. When God does something in your life, you should tell others about what He has done; do not keep the good news of His love and forgiveness to yourself. When the Samaritan woman who met Jesus by a well in Sychar encountered Jesus, she ran to tell everyone who would listen about her experience. She said, "Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?" (John 4:29).

A long time ago, I was going through a difficult time, and things were really tough for me. However, whenever people asked me how I was doing, I always told them that God was working overtime in taking care of me. I never stopped testifying of His goodness, and today, I am even bolder to say that God is working extra overtime to take care of me. I am never ashamed to share the good things that God has done for me.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. - (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

People who worship idols invite others to join their cults by telling and showing them what they have received from the devil. They do not hide what they get from satan, even though his gifts always come with hidden and terrible consequences. The Scripture above tells us that if we hide the good news of the things that God has done for us, the people who are on the path of destruction will not receive salvation. When God does something in your life, you must not hide it; rather, share the testimony with other people unless He tells you otherwise. Tell your friends, co-workers, and neighbours about the goodness of the Lord this Easter season. Encourage them to taste and see that the Lord is good indeed (Psalm 34:8). 

KEY POINT:

TOPIC: THE BURDEN BEARER

MEMORISE

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. - (Matthew 11:28)

READ: Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV)

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

MESSAGE

In today's memory verse, Jesus invited us to lay our burdens on Him. A burden, in this context, refers to a difficult situation that a person must deal with. Often, burdens attach themselves to people against their will, and they cannot remove them on their own. In (1 Kings 17:10-12), the widow of Zarephath had little food left because Elijah had prophesied that there would be no rain or dew until he decreed otherwise (1 Kings 17:1). God pronounced the judgment through the prophet because of the king's idolatry; therefore, the widow was suffering, not because she committed any offence, but because of the sins of the head of her nation, and there was nothing she could do to get rid of the situation.

In (2 Kings 5:1), the Bible tells us that Naaman was rich and famous; however, he was a leper. Leprosy was incurable in those days, and if money or fame could have solved his problem, he would not be in the situation he was in. If leprosy were something he could cut away with a sword, he would have destroyed it because he was a military general. However, he couldn't do anything about it despite his wealth and influence. Beloved, have you been carrying a burden for a long time? Do you have problems that you cannot do anything about? If your answer is yes, I rejoice with you today because there is someone called the Burden Bearer; His name is Jesus Christ. I join my faith with yours that as you cry to Him for help today, He will answer you.

Sin is a heavy burden that crushes those under it. When the burden of sin is upon a fellow, the fellow will remain under the devil's heavy yoke until he or she meets a stronger person who can remove the yoke. Mark 3:27 says that no one can enter a strong man's house and steal from him without first tying him up. Jesus is the only One who can deliver those who are weighed down by the burden of sin (Matthew 1:21, Acts 4:12). Are you burdened by sin? Jesus is calling you today. He wants to deliver you and give you rest from the burden of sin if you surrender your life to Him. If you have not yet given your life to Christ, acknowledge Him as Lord and Saviour over your life. Once you do this, He will bear your burden and give you a new life in Him. 

ACTION POINT

Jesus is waiting for you to cast all your burdens on Him, and He will give you rest.

TOPIC: HELP IS ON THE WAY!

MEMORISE

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, Nor take up their names into my lips. - (Psalm 16:4)

1 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

MESSAGE

Sometime in 1980, there was a woman in RCCG who was trusting God for the fruit of the womb. Although we all prayed for the woman as a church, my wife and I took it upon ourselves to pray for her regularly on our family altar. Shortly after, she informed us that she was pregnant. On hearing the good news, we were really happy for her. We were dancing and singing praises to God on her behalf when she told us, "Somebody advised me to look elsewhere for a solution to my childlessness." She continued, "The people I went to for a solution also used the Bible. However, they also performed some traditional rituals and asked me to participate in certain rituals as well. Look at the result now; I am pregnant." This happened over four decades ago, yet the last time I heard of her, she was still pregnant.

There was another woman who also desperately wanted a child. She got tired of waiting on God, so she sought fetish means to find a solution to her problem. Shortly after, she became pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy. After she had her baby, she told those who were still waiting on the Lord, "You better take action and get a solution to your problem like I did, instead of wasting your time praying." When the woman's son was about six years old, he went into her room one day, stripped himself naked, and said, "Let's have sex." The mother was shocked and asked him, "What did you say?" The boy responded, "I said I want to have sex with you." The perplexed mother then took him to a deliverance minister. During the deliverance session, the boy said, "Don't waste your time; I am not possessed. I am a demon incarnate."

Beloved, do not seek any kind of help outside God. Those who seek other gods and alternatives to God will eventually end up in sorrow. Today's memory verse says that the sorrow of those who seek after other gods shall be multiplied. Those who seek help apart from God always pay dearly for it because the devil has nothing free to give. I implore you today to continue to tarry in God's presence. Put your complete trust in Him because His help is on the way, and He will never disappoint you (Hebrews 10:35-38). I pray that the Lord will continue to uphold you and strengthen your faith in Him, in Jesus' name.

36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

MESSAGE:

Many years ago, I was visiting one of our parishes abroad, and when I landed at the airport, one of the pastors who usually came to welcome me anytime I visited the country was not there. When I asked about him, I was told that he was dying in a hospital. I asked if we could stop at the hospital on our way from the airport, and I was taken there immediately. In that hospital, they had a special room where people with 'hopeless' cases were kept. Once a patient was moved to that room, it meant that the fellow would likely not survive whatever ailment he or she had, and this was where the pastor was kept. He had cancer, and the doctors' reports were not good at all. I prayed for him and commanded the spirit of death to take its hands off him. I didn't pray for the other patients in the room because, in that country, you can be arrested for praying for a sick person when the fellow has not given his or her consent. After praying for the pastor, I left the hospital immediately. About three days later, he was completely healed and was discharged. It wasn't my doing; rather, it was God who backed up my word with so much power. I learnt later that on the day he was discharged, every other person in the room was discharged as well. Imagine what could have happened if I had heard the sad report concerning him and just sympathized with him instead of declaring the word of God over him.

Child of God, you might not know the great miracles you are hindering if you refuse to speak God's word to unfavorable situations. You must realize that you are not ordinary and your words carry power because you are a child of God. When you encounter a mountain in the way of your progress, speak to it in the name of Jesus, and it will obey you (Mark 11:23).

Revelation 1:6 says that you are a king, and Ecclesiastes 8:4 says that where the word of a king is, there is power. This means that whenever you speak, power shows up. Doubt is one of the major things that can stop power from showing up when you speak. 

Beloved, don't keep quiet in the face of negative situations; speak God's word over them in faith, and they will turn around completely for good, in Jesus' name.

MESSAGE

Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. In today's Bible reading, Jesus spoke a word to a man who was possessed by a legion of demons, and immediately, the demons left him. In Acts 16:16-18, Paul did likewise. When a girl who was possessed with a spirit of divination kept following him, he commanded the demon to come out of her in the name of Jesus, and it obeyed. Your words can also carry power when they are backed up by the word of the Almighty God.

If you are a true disciple of Jesus Christ, demons will recognise who you are and be afraid of you because they know that you have the power to cast them out. In Acts 19:13-17, the seven sons of Sceva saw a demon-possessed man, and they commanded the demon to leave him in the name of Jesus whom Paul preached. The demon knew that they had no relationship with Jesus, so it disobeyed and attacked them. The devil knows that Jesus is the Light and that He has also made His children light. This is why he will obey you if you are a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

A young man once attended a meeting and returned home loaded with demons. His case was so bad that he couldn't stand or sit; he could only lie on the floor. When he was brought to the church, I said, "I command you to kneel because I want to pray for you." With a fiery look, he responded, "I can't go on my knees." I repeated my command, and he asked, "In whose name?" I replied, "In the name of Jesus." He obeyed immediately, and I prayed for him. Then, I said, "Stand up," and he asked again, "In whose name?" I replied, "In the name of Jesus." He then stood up immediately. Thereafter, I told him, "Go now. You are free in the name of Jesus." He left, and that was the end of his problem.

Beloved, if you are a child of God, your words will be backed by the power in His word. When you tell a problem to leave in the name of Jesus, it has no choice but to obey you. Be conscious of the power in God's word, exercise your authority in it by speaking it boldly in the face of challenges and oppositions, and you will always emerge victorious.

TOPIC: CONDUITS OF POWER

MEMORISE

Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. - (Ecclesiastes 9:8)

READ: Mark 6:53-56 (KJV)

53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.

54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,

55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

MESSAGE

Every part of the life and being of a Christian who is totally surrendered to God is a potent weapon in God's hands. For example, just as we see in today's Bible reading, clothes that are worn by people who have submitted their lives and all to God can become conductors of God's power.

Jesus' garment was full of power; the sick touched the hem of His garment and were made whole, as we see in today's Bible reading. In Acts 19:11-12, God performed special miracles through Paul, such that aprons and handkerchiefs that he had worn were taken to the sick, and they received their healing. Paul was not even among the first twelve apostles; he was a persecutor of the gospel of Jesus Christ until he was saved. However, after his conversion, God performed special miracles through him. God is a miracle worker, but He is looking for vessels - men and women - who will believe Him so that He can release His power on the earth through them.

Child of God, your heavenly Father wants His power to flow through you so He can establish His Kingdom wherever you are. However, before your garment (which signifies your life) can become a conductor of God's power, your internal garment has to be pure. Today's memory verse tells us that our garments should always be white. This has nothing to do with always wearing white clothes; instead, it has everything to do with the heart. If a fellow's heart is not surrendered to the Lord and is full of greed, that person's garment cannot carry God's power. Gehazi could have carried a double portion of Elisha's anointing, but greed made him lose what could have been his spiritual inheritance (2 Kings 5:20-27). Judas could have been the one through whom God healed the man at the Beautiful Gate in Acts 3:1-11. God could have performed mighty miracles through him, just as He did with the other apostles, but greed made him end his life shamefully (Matthew 27:3-5).

Beloved, God wants you to be a conduit of His power like Peter and Paul. However, you cannot reveal His power when you are not surrendered to Him. If you are yet to surrender totally to God, I implore you to do so today so you can be a carrier of His power. I pray that the Lord will clothe you with His garment and make you a conductor of His power, in Jesus' name.

TOPIC: THERE IS POWER IN YOUR HANDS

MEMORISE

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. - (Mark 16: 18)

40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

43 And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;

44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze ab road the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

MESSAGE

In today's Bible reading, a leper came to Jesus, saying, "l know that if You want to, You can make me clean." In those days, leprosy was deemed incurable; however, when the man encountered Jesus, he was immediately cleansed. In Acts 3:1-11, Peter and John saw a man who had been born lame, and Peter said to him, "...In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." When the lame man didn't rise to his feet, Peter took him by his right hand and lifted him up. Immediately, the power of God flowed through Peter's hands into the lame man's bones, and he Jumped up.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. - (John 14:12)

In the Scripture above, Jesus said that anyone who believes in Him will do greater works than the ones He did while He was on earth. If you are a child of God, you must know that your heavenly Father has anointed you with His power. This means that your hands are not ordinary - they have become God's channel of healing, deliverance, and restoration. Jesus Christ has paid the price for pains and sicknesses, and that is why He said in Mark 16:17-18: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." This means that if you are a true child of God and you lay hands on the sick, they will recover. When you lay your hands upon them, God's power will flow through your hands to heal them. I decree that from now on, when you touch the sick, they will be healed.

I usually tell Christians who are doctors, "Before you administer medications to your patients, obtain their permission to lay hands on them, then pray for them." I also tell them, "You will encounter situations where there will be nothing more you can do for your patients medically. At those times, hand their cases over to the One who said, 'I am the Lord that healeth thee.'"

Beloved, if you are a child of God, your hands are powerful because they have been anointed by God. Therefore, exercise your faith in Him by laying hands on the sick for their healing, and you will begin to see special miracles happen through you.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

MESSAGE

It is important for Christians to walk in signs and wonders if we are to win the world to Jesus. In John 4:48, Jesus said that some people will not believe the gospel unless they see signs and wonders. As a minister of light, you are God's instrument for revealing His signs and wonders to the world, and He has already empowered you to perform miracles.

God seeks to perform special miracles through all His children, just as He did with Paul (Acts 19:11-12). If you are His child, He wants you to lay hands on the sick for them to recover. Some Christians doubt that the sick will recover if they lay their hands on them, and as a result, they don't lay hands on the sick. God didn't say that you should lay hands on the sick and cause them to recover; all He wants is for you to lay hands on the sick, and He will make sure that they recover. All you have to do is obey Him and leave the rest to Him. When you lay your hands on the sick, His power at work in you will flow through your hands to ensure that they recover.

To become God's instrument for revealing His signs and wonders, faith is important. Those who obey Jesus' commandments in faith always get the results that Jesus said they would get. As a young minister, when I read that I could lay my hands on the sick and they would recover, I started doing so secretly in my house. Whenever my children told me that they had a headache, I would take them to my room where nobody could see us, lay my hands on them, and say, "In the name of Jesus, headache, go!" However, I would also ensure that there was medicine for headaches at hand. At that time, my faith was little, but God always meets His children at their levels of faith. After praying in that manner, many times, they would become well in less than five minutes. Today, I can lay my hands on anyone when they are sick because I know that Jesus will not fail.

Beloved, God calls you the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), and He cannot lie. Therefore, be bold in your capacity as light and begin to shine forth. I pray that henceforth, God's glory and wonders will shine more than ever before in your life, in Jesus' name.

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. - (Matthew 4:16)

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

MESSAGE

Light is powerful. It drives away darkness and reveals whatever is hidden. In John 9:5, Jesus said, "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." John 1:4-5 also says, "In him was life; and the life was the light and of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." These Scriptures confirm that Jesus is the Light. However, in Matthew 5:14, the same Jesus said to His disciples, "Ye are the light of the world..." God cannot lie (Numbers 23:19); hence, if Jesus says His disciples are the light of this world, if you are His disciple, then you are light.

James 1:17 tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from God, who is the Father of lights. If our Father is the Light, then His children must be light. God expects you to shine, and in today's Bible reading, He commands you to let your light shine so that men will see your good works and give glory to Him.

As a child of God, you are a minister of light, and this means that you must shine. God has called you an able minister of the new covenant (2 Corinthians 3:6); therefore, your life must reveal God's glory and grace. In John 14:12, Jesus said that those who believe in Him will do the works He did and even surpass them by doing greater works.

When the light of God shines in a place, impossibilities become possible. We can see this in the life of Jesus Christ; wherever He went, miracles, healings, and deliverance happened in abundance. In John 9:1-7, He gave sight to a man who was born blind. Likewise, in John 5:1-9, He healed a man who had an infirmity for 38 years. He also healed some lepers in Luke 17:11-19, as well as a man who was possessed by a legion of demons (Mark 5:1-20). The Bible says in Matthew 4:23-25 that Jesus' fame spread throughout Syria because of the great miracles He was performing. People saw Him as the Light and were willing to follow Him wherever He went.

Beloved, as a child of God, light is your identity, and this light must shine so brightly that it eliminates every form of darkness around you. I pray that the light of God in you will never become hidden, in Jesus' name.
