Open Heavens Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye
OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: MONDAY 1ST JUNE 2020.
THEME: LIKE BEGETS LIKE.
MEMORISE:
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. Matthew 6:1-4
READ: Ephesians 6:1-4
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
MESSAGE
After God created heavens and the earth, He established some laws and principles to guide their operations and determine the course of everything in creation. Some of these laws are stated specially in the Bible while some are implied.
Humanity has identified some of these laws and has captured many of them as adages and proverbs such as “Whatever goes up must come down”, ‘The wages of sin is death’, ‘Whatever you sow, you shall reap’, ‘Give never lack’, ‘Like begets like’ and so on. These laws and principles are universal and quite consistent. Indeed, anything that goes up will surely come down, and like usually begets like in that come down, and like usually begets like in that children typically inherit the qualities and features of their ancestors. This principle is clearly defined in Mathew 7:17-18 as follows:
“Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”
It is an established fact that a parent’s character is often replicated in his/her children. The Bible severally confirms this principle. However, this principle is not immutable because good fathers sometimes have bad children as seen in Eli’s case, and bad fathers may have good children. The Bible says God keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations (Deuteronomy 7:9).
All parents is general and Christian parents in particular should have a time of personal reflection today, to examine themselves and consider the implications of their behavior and attitude on their children for generations to come. After this, they would need to make appropriate amendments. Live a life of total obedience to God from today, so your children can enjoy God’s blessings for generations to come (Psalm 112:1-2).
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to leave a good inheritance for my children’s children, in the mighty name of Jesus.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Songs of Solomon 1-8.
AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
HYMN 6: GOD GIVE US CHRISTIAN HOME.
1. God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the Bible is loved and taught,
Homes where the Master’s will is sought,
Homes crowned with beauty Your love has wrought;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!
2. God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the father is true and strong,
Homes that are free from the blight of wrong,
Homes that are joyous with love and song;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!
3. God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the mother, in caring quest,
Strives to show others Your way is best,
Homes where the Lord is an honored guest;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!
4. God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the children are led to know
Christ in His beauty who loves them so,
Homes where the altar fires burn and glow;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

Open Heavens Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye
OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: SUNDAY 31ST MAY 2020.
THEME: DON’T LOSE CONFIDENCE IN CHRIST.
MEMORISE:
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. Hebrews 10:35
READ: Hebrews 10:35-39
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
MESSAGE
Losing trust in Christ’s ability to do anything and everything has several terrible spiritual implications. For example, if anyone loses confidence in the sufficiency of Christ regarding the atonement for sins, such a person could turn to idols for supplementary atonement.
A displeased Paul wrote to the church in Galatia: “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” (Galatians 2:21). They had apparently lost confidence in the grace that earned them salvation and had begun to resort to self-righteousness through religious activities.
Today, like the Galatian Church who considered keeping of the Jewish traditional laws, some people do not think the gospel is enough for them. So, they give in to demonic alternatives.
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth….. Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Galatians 3:1,3
Do not lose confidence in God due to impatience. The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). Some people doubt Malachi 3:10-12 and then blaspheme because things are not going as planned despite their faithfulness in the payment of tithes and offerings. Some others now query monogamy as a Christian doctrine. Jesus Christ is however the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). We cannot modify God’s laws to suit ourselves.
Brethren, nothing should make us fret, not severe persecutions, not trials of faith. God wants you to trust Him completely; there is no problem He cannot resolve. Never seek solutions on your problems from the devil or his agents. Psalm 16:4 says: “Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god……”
Make God your refuge and strength. He is a very present help and will never forsake you (Psalm 46:11, Romans 8:35).
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to hold on to You and let my confidence in Christ increase, rather than diminish in the mighty name of Jesus.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 119: 89-176.
AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
HYMN 13: IN CHRIST ALONE.
In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye
OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: SATURDAY 30TH MAY 2020.
THEME: MAKE SOULWINNING YOUR LIFESTYLE.
MEMORISE:
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30
READ: Luke 10:1-3
1After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
MESSAGE
Despite all your endeavors, if you are not actively winning souls, you are courting fruitlessness, and believe me, you don’t want to face the consequences of being fruitless, as stated in John 15:1-2:
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”
If you are wise, you will make soul winning a priority in everything you do. When churches organize programmes with great crowds gathered and at the end of the day, there is no call for salvation, I just think “what a waste of time, effort and money.” What is the essence of doing anything at all in the Church if it will not ultimately lead more people to heaven? What is the essence of organizing concerts, doing jamboree and shouting to praise the Most High God if we do not prioritize His very heart beat- bringing lost souls back to His Kingdom? If you are a leader in any capacity in the body of Christ, I am speaking to you now. Whatever you are planning to organize in the Church that will not ultimately win souls to God’s kingdom or help already won souls to stand more firmly for God is a complete waste of time. If you are not bearing fruits, God Himself will take you away from the Vine. What a fearful thing it is if God himself separates you from Jesus Christ!
In your secular activities too, you must use every opportunity to win souls. Imagine how many terrorists would have been won to Christ, imagine how many parents of wayward children would have trained their children on the right path, if we had been using every available opportunity to win souls.
Anytime I am invited for honorary awards anywhere around the world, as long as I have that microphone in my hand and a few seconds to talk, I will appreciate the giver of the award and remind them that Jesus is coming soon with His own reward. No matter where you are, no matter who you are, no matter what you do, make soulwinning your lifestyle.
REFLECTION:
How well do you use all platforms at your disposal to win souls into the Kingdom of God?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 King 3-4
2 Chronicles 1
Psalm 72.
AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
HYMN 12: I AM THINE OH LORD.
1. I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
o Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
Open Heavens Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye
OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: FRIDAY 29TH MAY 2020.
THEME: RIGHTEOUS LEADERS, JOYFUL PEOPLE.
MEMORISE:
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. Proverbs 29:2
READ: 1 Timothy 2:1-4
1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
MESSAGE
If children of God would carefully study the Bible and obey its commands, the world would be a much better place. God would consistently reveal His mind to them and expressly answer their prayers. By the grace of the Almighty, anyone conversant with the history and development of the Redeemed Christian Church of God will agree without any doubt that God has constantly revealed His mind to guide us in this Church. May His name be praised forevermore in the mighty name of Jesus.
One clear spiritual principle God revealed to His people is that supplication, prayer and intercession be made for leaders and people in authority at all levels. Unfortunately, many of us do not know the importance of praying for our leaders. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 says:
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
Foremost, we are to seek God’s face to give us righteous leaders. Samuel would have erroneously anointed Eliab if not for God’s guidance. Thank God he listened and obeyed (1 Samuel 16:6-7). Who knows what would have befallen Israel if Eliab or any of David’s other brothers had been crowned king?
Secondly, prayer helps leaders to provide good governance, resulting in a quiet, peaceable, and prosperous life for the people. Leaders are targets of wicked physical and spiritual attacks for the simple reason that any defeat suffered by a leader will have a ripple effect on the whole community (Zechariah 13:7).
The devil always makes use of this method in his warfare against nations. That was the case in 1 Chronicles 21:1: “And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.” This error led to the death of several thousand people in 1 Chronicles 21:14.
Let us specifically ask God to give us righteous leaders. Righteousness exalts a nation (Proverbs 14:34) and this should start from the people in authority.
As we intensify prayers for our leaders today, our joy shall indeed be full and our nation shall be exalted in the Mighty Name of Jesus.
PRAYER POINT:
Pray for your leaders more than ever before and ask for grace to do this regularly.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 119-1-88.
AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
HYMN 1: ALL HAIL, THE POWER.
1. All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ Name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all!
2. Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,
Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace,
And crown Him Lord of all!
3. Let every kindred, every tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,
To Him all majesty ascribe,
And crown Him Lord of all!
4. Oh, that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall!
We’ll join the everlasting song,
And crown Him Lord of all!

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: THURSDAY 28TH MAY 2020.
THEME: GOD WILL REWARD YOU.
MEMORISE:
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. Matthew 10:42
READ: Matthew 6:1-6
1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
MESSAGE
Expecting reciprocal help from those you have helped may not be wise. God does not always work that way.
For if ye love themsays in Matthew 6:2 which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? Matthew 5:46
In today’s memory verse, Jesus promises a reward to whoever gives a drink to any young and defenseless person for the gospel sake. This is indeed encouraging and reassuring.
Going by this, as children of God, we must do good to all men, regardless of their affiliations. That way, we will be like our impartial Father who causes the rain to fall and sun to shine on both the good and the evil.
Sometimes ago, a Christian couple fed an unbelieving young man. This gesture eventually made him give his life to Christ. Today, that young man is the founder of a successful Christian organization with many branches across Nigeria. Imagine the effects of one good deed.
Jesus warned against doing good deeds because of the praise of men (Matthew 6:1-6). For many years, Christians generally adhered to this. However, things are changing really fast today. Some people even publicize their trips to motherless babies’ homes. Jesus says in Matthew 6:2:
“Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.”
The Lord wants you to always do good to your neighbors. This way, you will show you are a true child of your Father. “…..he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.” (Proverbs 14:21). Follow peace with all men and show kindness to everyone. God will surely reward you.
ACTION POINT:
Look out for the poor in your community and be good to them.

1. There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.
o Refrain:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.
2. There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.
3. There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honor Thy Word.
4. There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
5. There shall be showers of blessing,
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL.
DATE: WEDNESDAY 27TH MAY, 2020.
THEME: COMMAND YOUR HOUSEHOLD.
MEMORIZE:
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shall teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deuteronomy 6:6 -7
BIBLE READING:
GENESIS 18:19
19. For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
MESSAGE:
It is most surprising that the children of fervent Christians of the outgoing generation appear to be missing in action today.
Typically, if a Christian couple had three children for example, the next generation should therefore have at least three people standing for God, but this is clearly not so.
Now we have worldly musicians whose parents are leaders in the Church. The devil may be working hard to make the world a corrupt place, but a lot of Christian parents seem to be helping him get the job done faster.
How can Christian parents dress their children in revealing clothes?, Everything you introduce to your children now will be normal to them as they grow.
If you are already dressing your daughter in revealing clothes now that she is little, she would most likely wear even more provocative ones when she is a teenager.
lf you are a child of God, you must make sure that your children emulate you in the things you do, the way you talk and even the things you love.
You instill this in them by showing them what is right and what is wrong as they grow up.
Some parents go to church and leave their children at home, claiming that they don’t want to force them to serve God; they want them to grow up to love God by themselves.
I pity them because they are just giving the devil a free hand with their children.
Do you let the child decide if he wants to go to school or not? God said about Abraham in Genesis 18:19
“For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD…“
Can God say the same thing about you? Before you evangelise to the unbelievers outside, are you sure that there is no
unbeliever in your home?
Watch what they wear, what they say, who their friends are. Teach them to read their Bible and to pray.
When you teach your children to live godly lives, you will have rest in your old age because the Holy Spirit in them will not allow them to misbehave.
If you have a child who is already going wayward, I pray that he/she would encounter Christ and change for the better in the mighty name of Jesus.
ACTION POINT:
Every day, as you teach them, pray for your children that they will walk in the ways of the Most High God all their lives.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: TUESDAY 26TH MAY 2020.
THEME: CHOOSE HAPPINESS.
MEMORISE:
If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. John 13:17
READ: John 13:13-17
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
MESSAGE
Today’s memory verse makes us know clearly that we can influence our happiness. We can also deduce that knowledge is a requirement for happiness and this knowledge is from God.
“ If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him….. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:5,17
Getting knowledge too is a choice. There are people who have refused education despite so much persuasion. Most of such people end up as failures and become unhappy for the rest of their lives. It was however their choice. Likewise, some people deliberately follow other gods and this too could be a source of sorrow (Psalm 16:4). As temporal as wealth is when compared with spiritual and eternal blessings, lack of it may cause unhappiness. Even the Bible says “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” (Proverbs 22:7).
How can you become happy and remain so? Beloved, it is not enough to have knowledge, we must learn to do (John 13:17).
In today’s Bible reading, Jesus taught His disciples a secret of happiness- service to God and humanity. When you serve God and make Him the Lord over all your affairs, you will be happy (Psalm 144:15).
We would also be happy if you know how to get out of poverty in a Godly manner. Act according to Malachi 3:10 which commands us to pay our tithes so the widows of heavenly blessings can be open upon the works of your hands.
Beloved, I encourage you to choose happiness today. Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God and the Savior of the world is the only way to true happiness and eternal life (John 3:16-18).
PRAYER POINT:
Father, I choose to be happy today; I come to You through Your Son, Jesus. please, give me joy eternal.

HYMN 3: BE GLAD IN THE LORD AND REJOICE.
1. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice,
All ye that are upright in heart;
And ye that have made Him your choice,
Bid sadness and sorrow depart.
o Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice,
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice;
Rejoice, rejoice,
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice.
2. Be joyful, for He is the Lord
On earth and in Heaven supreme;
He fashions and rules by His word—
The “Mighty” and “Strong” to redeem.
3. What though in the conflict for right
Your enemies almost prevail?
God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
Are more than the foes which assail.
4. Though darkness surround you by day,
Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
Let nothing your spirit dismay,
But trust till the danger is past.
5. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice,
His praises proclaiming in song;
Let gratefulness give all a voice,
The loud hallelujahs prolong!

1. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice,
All ye that are upright in heart;
And ye that have made Him your choice,
Bid sadness and sorrow depart.
o Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice,
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice;
Rejoice, rejoice,
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice.
2. Be joyful, for He is the Lord
On earth and in Heaven supreme;
He fashions and rules by His word—
The “Mighty” and “Strong” to redeem.
3. What though in the conflict for right
Your enemies almost prevail?
God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
Are more than the foes which assail.
4. Though darkness surround you by day,
Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
Let nothing your spirit dismay,
But trust till the danger is past.
5. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice,
His praises proclaiming in song;
Let gratefulness give all a voice,
The loud hallelujahs prolong!

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL.
DATE: MONDAY 25TH MAY, 2020.
THEME: ENEMIES OF CHRISTIAN PILGRIMS.
MEMORISE:
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth easily beset us, and let us run with patient the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1
READ: 1st John 3:4-10 (KJV)
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
MESSAGE:
God wants His children to be aware of the several roadblocks on their journey to the promised land. Chief among these is the devil. He puts obstacles in our path so we can reject the ways of the Lord (1st Peter 5:7-9). He uses sin as a weapon of destruction knowing fully well that no unclean thing shall enter into the Kingdom of God (Revelation 21:27).
Seeing these obvious threats to the success of our pilgrimage, God always provides an escapes route for us (1st Corinthians 10:13)
In today’s Bible reading, John describes sin as a transgression of the law.
It is definitely not a Christian virtue. As a matter of fact, sinners belong to the devil because he has been sinning from the beginning (1st John 3:8).
The whole duty of Satan is to lure people into disobedience against God, thus truncating their journey to eternal life. He told Adam and Eve that eating the forbidding fruit would not affect their relationship with God.
Eventually, they were sent from the blissful garden of Eden (Genesis 3).
Today, he has introduced the concept of ‘non-essentials’ to the Christian faith.
For instance, the devil convinces people that a sip of alcohol once in a while does not matter; and that premarital sex is not bad as long as the couple would eventually marry each other, without regard for Hebrews 13:4! What about lies? Many ‘Christians’ now lie with impunity and it is termed ‘white’ lies.
These are very little foxes that destroy the vine of faith. This is a timely warning for Christian pilgrims to guard against seemingly insignificant habits that can exclude one from the hope of eternal life.
May the Lord grant us the grace to run with patience and race that is set before us.
ACTION POINT:
Examine your life for socially acceptable behaviours that are not Christ-like. They could deny you of eternal life ultimately. Do away with them all immediately.

GENESIS 27:27-40
27. And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed:
28. Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:
29. Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.
30. And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
31. And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.
32. And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.
33. And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.
34. And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.
35. And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.
36. And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
37. And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?
38. And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
39. And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;
40. And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy Neck.
MESSAGE:
A father has tremendous power over the life and destiny of his child. Any wise child will always seek to get the blessings of his father, whether biological or spiritual.
One day I had just returned from a journey with a big bag in each hand when two of my children-in-the-Lord came to welcome me.
The one who got to me first just offered a greeting, while the other took the bags from me immediately. I turned to the one who took the bags and said God bless you.
The other said Daddy, you did not say God bless you to me. I replied; You saw me carrying the bags, but you didn’t help.
If you want your father to bless you, provoke him to do so. The father’s blessing is irreversible.
In our memory verse, when Isaac realised that he had blessed Jacob instead of Esau,
even he could not reverse it. Once your father blesses you, you are blessed forever.
Blessings can come from the soul, heart and mouth. Jacob asked Esau to make him a
delicacy so he could bless him from the soul (Genesis 27:1-7).
A father can bless three of his children, but one would still be greater than the rest because of the fathers special love for him.
How much does your father love you? Proverbs 10:1 says:
“A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.“
Is your father usually encouraged to pray for you or are you a child who provokes him to anger regularly?.
Some people hardly send money to their old parents; some hardly call them talk less of going to visit them. Treasure them.
Whatever you do, ensure that you get as many blessings as possible from your father before he dies.
ACTION POINT:
Do something for your father today that will provoke him to bless you. If you are a father,
call your child or children and bless them from your soul.

Open Heavens Prayer Points
Prayer Points on Today’s Open Heavens: (Saturday, May 23, 2020)
*OLDER, NOT WEAKER*
Special Note:
These prayer points are not written by Pastor E. A. Adeboye, but by one of his numerous disciples, of Christ, who was inspired and mandated by the Holy Spirit, about 5 years ago, (effective January 1st, 2015), to start writing these prayer points, based on the Open Heavens Daily Devotional, authored by Pastor E. A. Adeboye.
Some of the prayer points are deep spiritually and may not be understood by carnal minds.
If you want to be blessed from these prayer points, you must first, surrender Your life, to the Lord Jesus Christ, Himself, by saying this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I come to You with a deeply repentant heart, please, forgive me all my sins. I surrender my life to you, today, and, I accept You, as my personal Lord and Saviour. Please, come into my life and save my soul from eternal destruction in hell fire. In Jesus' name, I pray.”
Prayer Points:
1.Thank You, Father, for creating me in Your image and likeness, and for Your unfailing promises over my life and destiny.
2.Thank You, Father, for all the battles You have fought and won on my behalf and for the grace to be counted among the living, today.
3.Father, in anyway I have fallen short of your glory, please, have mercy and forgive me, in Jesus' name.
4.Father, I stand upon Your word and promises, and I decree that my sun shall no more go down, neither shall my moon withdraw itself; and, You shall be my everlasting light, in Jesus' name.
5.Father, let me flourish and multiply, financially, materially and spiritually; let my latter end be more glorious and more fulfilling, than my former, in Jesus' name.
6.I shall fulfil my days on the surface of the earth, and achieve the purpose of God for my life, in Jesus' name.
7.I shall spend the rest of my life, in joy, divine health, prosperity, and doing exploits for Your kingdom; and, as my days are, so shall my strength be, in Jesus' name.
8.In my old age, I shall not be a liability to anyone, either physically or financially; I shall have more than enough of all good things, and still leave sufficient inheritance, for my children, in Jesus' name.
9.Father, I lift up all our elders in the faith before You, please, don't let any suffer sickness or lack any good thing in old age; as their days are, so shall their strength be, in Jesus' name.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: SATURDAY 23RD MAY 2020.
THEME: OLDER, NOT WEAKER.
MEMORISE:
There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. Isaiah 65:20
READ: Isaiah 65:20-23
20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
MESSAGE
Are you aware that your strength can reman intact even as you grow old? According to Deuteronomy 34:7, Moses was One hundred and twenty years old, yet had 20/20 vision and was not weak.
Isaiah 65:20 says young child will die at age of one hundred year. Just imagine that if in the church when we say, “We lost a child” we are talking of someone aged One Hundred years. That is the promise of God. Joshua 14:10, 11 says:
“…..and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.”
In the verse above, Caleb said, at eighty-five he was still as strong as he was at forty. He could still fight battles! Compare your age to that of his and see if it is normal to feel weak. God will renew your youth like the eagles’ in the mighty name of Jesus (Psalm 103:5)!
No matter your age, sickness has no place in your body because it is still the temple of God (Corinthians 6:19). The devil has deceived many of us with the idea that certain sicknesses are typical for old people. It is a big lie. My Bible tells me that I am healed by the stripes of Jesus. it didn’t say that l will enjoy healing when I am fifty. It will work for me all through life. So, I decree: no sickness can stay in your body in the mighty name of Jesus.
Now, with age comes wisdom and discipline- wisdom to eat only what is right and discipline to stay away from eating anything that would hurt you. As an adult with experience, the effects of diabetics you have seen should keep you from consuming sugar. You should have seen people die of cancer so much so that you know consuming organic food is better than processed ones with chemicals in them.
If you are faithful in playing your part to stay healthy, just leave the rest to God. He is faithful to keep you strong.
PRAYER POINT:
Let’s pray for our leaders that as their days are, so shall their strength be.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 108-110
AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
HYMN 23: ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIER.
1. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!
o Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
2. At the sign of triumph Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
3. Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
4. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never ’gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise, and that cannot fail.
5. Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

DATE: FRIDAY 22ND MAY 2020.
THEME: THAT I MAY KNOW HIM.
MEMORISE:
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Philippians 3:10
READ: Exodus 5:1-8
1And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.
5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.
6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
MESSAGE
Generally. Ignorance kills, it is however even more lethal when people do not know God. Such people do not know God. Such people could fall into the hands of God just as Nebuchadnezzar did (Daniel 4:33).
Pharaoh was reluctant to free the Israelites because he was ignorant of God’s power (Exodus 5:2), yet that was not enough to excuse him and his kingdom from God’s judgment. God will never accept ignorance as an excuse for disobedience to His will.
Knowledge however, is power, more so the knowledge of the Most High God. It is the ultimate power.
How do we know God to the extent that we can draw maximum benefits from Him? How do we avoid walking contrary to His will?
God is the source of both temporal and eternal blessings. To know Him, you must first know Jesus. Matthew 11:27 says:
“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.”
Knowing Jesus Christ is knowing the mind of God and those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32). No wonder Paul prayed passionately to know Jesus intimately (Philippians 3:10).
When we look at Paul’s prayer, we may understand why he did great exploits in the ministry. To achieve the same kind of result in our Christian walk, we also must be knowledgeable in the word of God. Search the Scripture daily to know Jesus Christ the more (John 5:39), His mission before (Matthew 1:21), during (John 14:6) and after His earthly ministry (Revelation 22:12).
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please reveal Your majesty to me that I may reverence You as I should.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Samuel 24
1 Chronicles 21-22.
AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
HYMN 27: TAKE MY LIFE, AND LET IT BE.
1. Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
*Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise.
2. Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
3. Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
4. Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

1.Thank You, Father, for the salvation of my soul through which you have given me victory ahead of my battles.
2.Thank You, Jesus, for leaving all Your glory in heaven, to become flesh, in order to deliver me from eternal doom and destruction, in hell fire.
3.Father, in anyway I have fallen short of your glory, please, have mercy and forgive me, in Jesus' name.
4.Father, ordain Your arrows against my persecutors, let none of them escape Your divine judgement, for their mischief towards me, Your anointed, in Jesus' name.
5.Father, let every evil counsel and scheme over my life, family and ministry, be rendered null and void and of no consequence, in Jesus' name.
6.Father, surround me with Your fire, and shield me from every evil arrow of the enemies; give me resounding victory over all my enemies and life's challenges, in Jesus' name.
7.Father, release upon my life, power that witches and wizards; principalities and powers; and spiritual wickedness, in heavenly places; cannot confront or withstand, in Jesus' name.
8.Father, let every stubborn pursuer of my life and destiny, do so, to his or her own destruction, after the order of Pharaoh, in Jesus' name.
9.Father, I stand upon the finished works of Christ at Calvary, and I decree that, every battle You have fought and won for me, shall never rise again, in Jesus' name.
10.Father, I stand upon the finished works of Jesus at Calvary, and I decree that the reign of terror over my life, destiny, family and ministry, is over today, in Jesus' name.
11.Father, let all those who are incensed against me be ashamed and confounded; let all who strive with me be as nothing; I shall seek them and shall not find them, in Jesus' name.
12.Father, bless your son, Pastor E.A.Adeboye; shield him from every evil arrow, and give him victory on all sides, in Jesus' name.

14.Father, let every challenge, hindrance and obstacle of getting these prayer points across to Your children, timely, and on daily basis be removed, in Jesus' name.
15.Your Personal petitions.
( Philippians 4:6)

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Colossians 2:12
READ: John 19:28-30
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
MESSAGE
“It is finished” was the last statement that Jesus Christ uttered on the cross at Calvary, just before He died. There was a buildup of events, both physically and spiritually, which culminated in the solemn moment that produced that statement. It started in the garden of Eden when God created human beings in His own image as His personal object of love, and began to have a most intimate relationship with them. Satan then played a trick on humanity by tempting them to sin against God, there by severing the beautiful relationship between God and man. Thereafter, God warned that the battle was far from being over. Genesis 3:15 says:
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
God put hostility between the seed of the woman and the devil. Without any doubt, Jesus Christ is the seed of the woman. He was the only human being ever born into the world without the input of a man as it was the Holy Spirit that brought about His conception. Theologically speaking, it is believed that God in His infinite wisdom carefully coded the plans of redemption into Genesis 3:15. This code remained hidden t the devil until the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus was however, fully aware of this divine plan to save mankind; thus, in John 19:30, He triumphantly cried with a loud voice “It is finished!” as a declaration of victory over the devil and his agents. Anyone who wishes to be part of that victory must accept Jesus as his/her personal Lord and Savior.
This acceptance must however not be in verbal confession only but in all our actions as well. I pray that the devil’s reign of terror over your life and family will come to an end today, in the mighty name of Jesus. Jesus already won the battle and indeed, it is finished!
PRAYER POINT:
Father, thank You for the salvation of my soul through which you have given me victory ahead of my battles.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 95, 97, 99.

HYMN 29: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS.
1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
4. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.
